The Junior Star Singer Songwriter 2017 tour takes off at Takeover

After a fantastic 2016, Junior Star Singer Songwriter is heading back out on the UK's highways in search of our 2017 champion. Our 2017 tour will see us reaching even more of the UK, with extra radio stations and dates added to bring us even closer to wherever you are.

Saturday 1st April saw us making our first stop at Takeover Radio 103.2 in Leicester. Main presenter Amanda Neale and co-host Rachael set off for sunny Leicester with Teide Bryce, previous contestant of JSS's pilot, Brooklands Future Starz, and Sophia Erika, new junior presenter of our new 'Behind the Mic' feature. 'Behind the Mic' is Junior Star Singer's chance to get the feedback behind the scenes at the radio stations to see how the contestants are feeling.  The girls set off at 7am for their road trip, with just one stop for an early brekkie at Costa in Flitwick. Teide and Sophia caught a few crafty zzzz's in the car whilst they could...touring can be tiring!

Arriving at Takeover Radio before the show kicked off at midday live, everyone took their places. Amanda and  Rachael took their places to present the show with Cameron, Take Over Radio's junior presenter. They interviewed three new contestants, girl band Sparkle, young singer Chloe Dring and Lauren Lee.

Check out an interview from Sparkle on our main website, a band that have been together for three years and have been mentored by their singing coach, Toni Parker-Harvey.  The girls sang their own rendition of Megan Trainor's track 'Like I'm gonna lose you' featuring John Legend.  With amazing vocal harmonies and unique urban pop sound, the girl group were practicing their vocals from the minute they turned up at the radio station.  Well done girls for all your hard work and dedication.  Good luck!!!

Chloe Dring is one of our youngest contestants ever to enter Junior Star Singer. Aged just 10 with an impressively huge voice, she really wowed everyone on the show! You can see her knockout performance in the clip below.

Chloe is hoping to get ahead in the competition and be in the final.  A very confident little lady with a huge voice.  She sang Bruno Mar's track 'Grenade', one of his classic tracks which built his career.  Chloe managed to sing the track with a belting soulful voice.  Well done Chloe!!!  Keep up the great training.  We hope you do really well in the competition.

Lauren Lee is from Sheffield and learned about Junior Star Singer last year.  She wanted to enter this year, to see whether her vocal ability would be good enough for the judges.  Being on the radio station was an amazing experience for her and a bigger lover of pop music, Lauren hopes that being in the Junior Star Competition will help her to become a full-time pop artist.  She loves artists like Taylor Swift and Selina Gomez.  You certainly impressed us Lauren with your amazingly beautiful, commercial sounding voice.  Lauren also sang the track 'Like I'm gonna lose you' by Megan Trainor featuring John Legend. Well done Lauren!!!!

Previous and new contestants joined new Junior Star Singer presenter Sophia for 'Behind the mic'  a new show on JSS which gives a chance to speak to contestants away from the main desk at the radio station.  It gives feedback on how they think they have done on air and a bit more extra news on the new up and coming contestants for the tour.  Take a look here to see her some of her interviews.

The Leicester show also welcomed previous winners and contestants from last year.  The show opened up with Shania Rowe from Bradford, the winner for Best Songwriter and Kasey-Wray Wooderson, the winner for Best Vocalist from Sheffield.  We were also joined by Shivani Dhillon from Leicester, and Emily Taylor Smith from Halifax who were contestants last year and are now being developed on the Junior Star Singer programme.  Watch out for their special pages on the Junior Star Singer website, which are coming soon. They will also be featured again on the tour for 2017 so check out all the radio shows for the Junior Star Singer Songwriter Radio Tour 2017.

It was another fantastic, entertaining radio show, so special thanks to Graham and Cameron at Takeover Radio for all their support, as well as the Junior Star Singer production team for another great accomplishment in Leicester.

This show for Take Over Radio will be aired again in Nottingham later in May, please check out the website (Take Over Radio) and check our Twitter channel for news on upcoming dates.

See you all at the next show !!!!!!!!!!XXX
